Our Philosophy

I hate lawyer advertising.  It’s not that lawyers should not advertise, it’s that it leads to desperate efforts to solicit business.

I was 12 when I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer.  I was convinced that I needed to be the one to help when someone needed it.

The idea that I would have to hustle business never entered my mind.  No, I would just open my office and people would just flock to me and I would help them in their darkest hour.  Remember, I was 12.  But the reality is that I can’t avoid it.

Many lawyer websites read like advertising – an effort to solicit your business.   My thought is that a website should not be about advertising, but about informing. I want this website to inform you about how we choose to practice law.   I realize that no matter how hard I try, some part of this website will look like advertising and may even feel like advertising to you.   I apologize if it comes off that way; that is not my desire.

Our goal is to solve your problem

Sometimes that means we tell you there is nothing we can do for you.   Sometimes there is something that can be done, but you may not need a lawyer to do it.  Sometimes it means you need a lawyer and you need to bring a claim or lawsuit, and sometimes it means that we recommend that you reject the offer that’s been made to you and go to trial.  Whatever it may turn out to be, our recommendation is simple: What will help you solve your problem?

That philosophy is evident every day of the year. When you call us for the first time, the question we ask ourselves is: Do you need our help?   So, don’t be surprised if we tell you that you don’t need our help or that you could do it just as well on your own.

When I tell people they don’t need to spend money on a lawyer, they are surprised. However, our philosophy isn’t “what is good for us”.

Our philosophy is:  "What is good for you and your family?"

Sometimes what’s good is that you don’t need a lawyer and you are better off saving the money you would pay to a lawyer and keeping it for yourself.

It is that philosophy that flows throughout the entire time we are handling your case. There may be times where you disagree with us or when you think we should be telling you something more positive.  But we don’t see our role as telling you what you want to hear. We see our role as telling you what you need to know.   To every case we bring two primary things: first, our experience and skill in working with insurance companies and defense lawyers, and second, our advice.  We combine these two things to give you a realistic idea of what to expect and the ability to carry out any plan we think is appropriate.

Finally, while it may come as a surprise to you, lawyers have a code of ethics.

We follow that completely.  If you are interested in using our office as a way to get even or to get revenge, we will politely tell you to find someone else.  We are here for you, but we will not compromise our ethics.  We believe that our reputation, both in the legal community and the client community, helps every one of our clients.  We have rightly earned the reputation for being direct, responsible, creative and tenacious. We will not do anything to undermine that, no matter how much we may like our clients.

So, browse through our website, enjoy the photos and the information that we can provide to you, and if you think you need our help, please call.  And thanks for visiting.

Sincerely,

Martin A. Diaz
